St. Paul's Parish Athletic Program
St. Paul Cross-Country Team at PDS

The St Paul's Cross-Country team is having another banner year. On Sept 25, 2008 we participated in a meet at PDS and won the event by one point!

When a race is that close, a lot of individual efforts go into the team's win. Mark Maslanka finished 1st with a time of 11:56. He was flying! Michael Elliott finished 3rd, pretty far ahead of the 4th place runner. Jeff Maslanka held 6th place by 5 seconds. Rebecca Maslanka held 8th place by 4 seconds. The next four runners clinched the win. Kaitlyn Weeks (13:55), Tess Solazzo (14:00), Meg Dalrymple (14:10), and Darrin Howell (14:11) were able to finish as a pack. Right behind them was a pack of runners from PDS and Stuart whose times were 14:13, 14:15, 14:17, 14:18, and 14:21. Finishing ahead of that pack from the other teams was the difference between first and second place. Congratulations to all the runners for a great team win!

St. Paul Girls Cross-Country Team at Stuart Invitational

On Oct 14th the girls from the St. Paul Cross-Country team earned the 2nd Place trophy in the Stuart Invitational--and I do mean earned! It was a 2.2 mile course over very rough terrain, but the girls were up to the challenge.

This is the first time St. Paul has won a team trophy at the Stuart race, and the first time St. Paul had as many as three individual award winners. The individual winners were Rebecca Maslanka - Third Place trophy, Kaitlyn Weeks - Sixth Place medal, and Meg Dalrymple - Eighth Place medal. Great job by all the runners! And a special shoutout to the bus driver who got the eighth graders back from their field trip with plenty of time to spare.
